With the Babylon movie trailer, Damien Chazelle transports fans to the Jazz Age and its effect on the film business. Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Tobey Maguire, Samara Weaving, Olivia Wilde, Spike Jonze, Jean Smart, Max Minghella, Katherine Waterston, and Flea are among the stars of the La La Land director’s next picture.
Plot specifics for Babylon are still unclear, although the film is reported to follow different people as their goal falls short of their excess during Hollywood’s 1920s period.
The development of Babylon was first reported in 2019, with Chazelle being slated to rejoin with Lionsgate and Emma Stone, both of whom he collaborated with on La La Land, however Paramount would eventually swoop in and secure the projects’ rights. Casting would commence a few months later, with Pitt confirmed to star (he was in negotiations while Lionsgate was still interested in the film) and Robbie replacing Stone due to schedule difficulties. After production concluded over a year ago, fans are now getting their first glimpse at Babylon.
The official Babylon trailer has been released by Paramount Pictures after its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. The trailer provides the first good look at Chazelle’s historical epic, its cast of characters, and the plot that connects them all. Watch the trailer below.
Though First Man was a moderate hit, the official Babylon trailer will undoubtedly seem like a return to Chazelle’s beginnings for fans of the Oscar winner. The film, like Whiplash and La La Land before it, seems to be providing spectators a behind-the-scenes peek at a very real moment and industry, as well as addressing the emotional weight each has on the individuals caught in the centre of it.
Unlike his previous films, however, the Babylon trailer appears to be very tonally different for Chazelle, feeling much more akin to a mash-up of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Great Gatsby, and The Wolf of Wall Street, all of which have large fan bases that will undoubtedly find the chaotic feel of Chazelle’s film appealing.
Interestingly, Babylon is both Pitt and Robbie’s second return to a bygone period of Hollywood, after Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, for which the former won his first acting Oscar as stunt double Cliff Booth.
What will be interesting to see is if the two actors get the chance to act alongside one another on screen, as Cliff and Robbie’s Sharon Tate never crossed paths in Tarantino’s film, though with the Babylon trailer seemingly showing them interacting with only a handful of the same characters, it appears possible they will miss the chance to share screen time once again. When Babylon enters cinemas on January 6, 2023, only time will tell.

When asked by People magazine why she took such a drastic change from theatrical arts, LeBeauf states: “Whatever part of the brain and the heart that acting feeds in me, design does the same thing.” These days, LeBeauf lives in New York City and serves high-earning clients, and occasionally dabbles in her original career of acting.Follow her on Instagram @SabrinaLeBeauf

An artist has shared a series of AI images that have recreated Chris Rock’s point of view from the 2022 Oscars, where he was slapped by Will Smith.
During the 2022 ceremony, Oscars host Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head – a style she chose as a way of dealing with the alopecia she suffers from. Will Smith, who is married to Pinkett Smith, then walked on stage and slapped the comedian. He later shouted “keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”
The clip quickly went viral but an artist has now used the Artificial Intelligence-driven software Midjourney to create a series of images that show the altercation from Rock’s point of view.
“POV: You just talked smack about Will Smith’s wife at the Oscars (Big mistake),” wrote Barsee as he shared the first of four images.

The images have been shared across Twitter, with many users scared by the realism.
“I’m sorry but this AI thing is beginning to scare me,” wrote one user. “This makes me deeply uncomfortable,” added another while a third declared the “age of deep fakes is here!”
It comes days after an AI-generated image of Pope Francis apparently wearing a Balenciaga-inspired puffer jacket also went viral on Twitter.
Shortly afterwards, Midjourney temporarily disabled the platform’s free tier “due to a combination of extraordinary demand and trial abuse.”
Over the past year, Will Smith has reportedly “tried unsuccessfully” to make amends with Chris Rock.
In July last year, Smith posted an apology video to address his actions. “I’ve reached out to Chris [Rock] and the message that came back is he’s not ready to talk, and when he is, he will reach out,” he said.
“Everybody knows it happened,” Rock said. “I got smacked a year ago. I got smacked at the Oscars by this motherfucker. And people are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts. I’ve got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ear.”
